Transportation in Majorca

During your Majorca holiday, you won’t want to limit yourself to the cultural attractions and activities that are only in the immediate vicinity of your accommodation. If you want to take advantage of the most unique offerings of your destination, you’ll likely have to venture away from where you’re staying.

Though your resort might be comfortable with sandy beaches and luxurious swimming pools, you’ll want to tap into museums, landmarks, and key landmarks to get the most out of your holiday. Majorca, for instance, is a self-contained island, but it sprawls more than you might think. Different regions of the island have their own attractions to offer, and you’ll need to take advantage of the transportation in Majorca if you want to see some of them.

In the capital city of the island, Palma, there is an intricate and substantial bus service that covers nearly every portion of the city. Everywhere you’re likely to visit within the district, you’ll find a bus line that can take you there. However, if you want to venture to other key villages in Majorca, bussing is still an option. You’ll want to get your hands on a timetable because bus service outside the major cities is scarce.

Another option if you’d like to see the Majorca countryside is to rent a car. There are rental outlets in most major cities and at the airport, and if you like to tour at your own pace, then perhaps a car is the best choice for you. The major highway systems on the island are easily navigable; the smaller back roads require more discretion. Furthermore, many of the back roads are not well marked, and either a GPS or a map would serve you well.

If you are renting one of the many beautiful holiday villas in Majorca you will almost certainly require a rental car as many properties are not located within walking distance of the beaches and amenities and it may not be desirable or practical to rely on public transport all of the time. Most of the agencies that let Majorca villas also have arrangements with local car hire agencies. If you are booking your property online you should also be able to book your car hire at the same site.

Transportation in Majorca doesn’t have to be a problem. You can find a way to get around to suit your needs and your pace. If you’re looking to tour a smaller area, why not consider one of the more unique modes of transport, such as bicycle rentals or horse jaunt? There are truly ways to get around that appeal to all varieties of travelers.
