As you plan your next holiday, you’ll want to do all you can to make sure it is a memorable one. There are some steps you can take to ensure that your trip will stand out above the others, beginning with the destination you choose. Why spend your precious time off at a commonplace spot when you can think outside the box and select somewhere that brims with culture, history, and beauty? The Balearic Islands boast all of these attributes. A province of Spain off the coast of the Iberian Peninsula, this island chain offers enough beaches, nightlife, and history to satisfy even the most discerning traveler.

Located in the Mediterranean Sea, the Balearic Islands are an archipelago of four major islands, each of which offers plenty of tourist flavor. Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera comprise an autonomous community with Spanish and Catalan being their official languages.

Perfect for tourists, the island climate sees about 300 days of sun per year, and the moderate temperatures make for perfect beach-going weather. And speaking of beaches, they are some of the best in Europe. Young and mature travelers alike flock to the islands throughout the year, making them some of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

Each of the Balearic Islands offers its own unique flavor and set of attractions. Majorca, the largest of the chain, sees the most tourist activity because of its size and selection of resorts. Ibiza, meanwhile, is known worldwide as the “Party Island” as it hosts notorious celebrations in peak vacation season that usually last from dusk until dawn.

Menorca and Formentera, meanwhile, are less populated and are least affected by the travel industry. You can find many spots on each island that are nearly deserted. Whichever island you choose, you’ll find a host of opportunities for discovery and relaxation.

There is plenty of holiday accommodation on the islands. Villas and apartments in Majorca are widely available and you can rent apartments and villas either from local agents or from online rental agencies.
