The Balearic Island of Majorca hosts a popular annual classic car rally during March – The Majorca Classic Car Rally.

Majorca may be best known for its scorching coastline in high summer, but because the Mediterranean island enjoys March temperatures like London does in May, it makes the perfect venue for a rally attracting enthusiasts and owners of every classic marque from Alfa Romeo to Volkswagen.

American muscle-cars, rare vintage models, renowned European racers and roadsters from every decade will be assembling at the start-line revving, tweaking and posing for pictures.

Beginning in the capital Palma, competitors follow a 380-mile route around Majorca, initially across open country, through the fruit-farms and vineyards of the island’s interior, on into spectacular upland scenery where stunning passes and hairpin bends will test the drivers’ nerves and skill.

These mountain miles run through parts little known to most of Majorca’s visitors where the countryside is unspoilt, unchanged from earlier centuries and full of rustic Mediterranean charm.

The course finally loops back to the two-mile RennArena circuit, for lap-timing challenges and close quarter observations. The track also has an excellent restaurant and grandstand seating allows spectators to enjoy all the sights  and sounds of the rally’s hard-fought finale.
